About Mary Carmen.

My name was ceremoniously bestowed upon me on the slopes of Iztaccihuatl by the Tonalmiti Grandparents, alongside their duality Grandfather Cenyacti. I embrace the traditions of the Red Road, a sacred path that stretches from Alaska to Patagonia, characterized by its profound connection to the heart's rhythm, the art of song and moon dance, the eloquence of words (palabra Florida), and the harmonious observation of nature's cycles and celestial bodies.

For over two decades, I have diligently walked the path of a medicine woman, dedicated to preserving the ancient traditions of our indigenous ancestors as much as possible. My journey has been enriched by more than 20 years of work with the Temazkalli, a sweat lodge that serves as a crucible for warrior preparation, healing, and council. This practice is deeply rooted in the wisdom of the Red Road and is considered our most potent medicine.

I share the wisdom of the feminine. As a doula assistant, I provide support such as postpartum hip closure, therapeutic massages, and energy cleansing rituals. Within sacred circles, we commune through song, the power of words, and the enchanting company of Cacao, among other practices including dance and more.

I am proudly a Mexican medicine woman, deeply indebted to the wisdom passed down by the Mexica grandmothers. I work with Grandmother Mary Carmen as a Ciuacoatl, name that comes from the Aztec fertility goddess, assisting the healing process.

Jornadas de Paz y Dignidad

"In 1996, while residing in Jiquilpan, Michoacán, my family, our local community, and I were blessed with an invitation to contribute our support to the Journeys of Peace and Dignity Movement. This invitation, was beautiful, it was not just a mere gesture; it was a profound connection to the prophecies handed down by our ancient ancestors." -- MaryCarmen

These prophecies foretold the reuniting of the eagle (symbolizing North America), the condor (symbolizing South America), and now, the quetzal (symbolizing Central America), symbolizing a harmonious flight of unity.

The Journeys of Peace and Dignity Movement involves a sacred torch-bearing relay race held every four years, deeply embedded in prayer. We run with a purpose — to champion the cause of Peace and Dignity for the Original Peoples, our ancestral tribes. The journey spans from the northernmost reaches of Alaska to the southernmost lands of Ushuaia, the "Land of Fire." Significant gatherings have taken place in Teotihuacan, Panama, Tikal in Guatemala, and Quito, Ecuador.

Today, I serve as a member of the Council of Elders within the Journeys of Peace and Dignity Movement and hold the position of coordinator for the state of Oaxaca, where I now reside.

Ahoo! For the past 25 years, we have walked alongside the Maya Quiche Grandparents. Our journey has extended beyond participation in traditional Tata ceremonies; we have carried this wisdom from Lima, Peru, all the way to Ushuaia, passing through Chile and Argentina, generously sharing this sacred knowledge. Over the years, I have completed 13 dances, three of them guided by Grandmother Paty Totlananzin from Coacalco and ten under the guidance of Xochimeztli. We are proud grandmothers of the Red Road, dedicated to the sharing of traditional medicine.
